Once staff make the grade in terms of vetting, they are put through rigorous training to ensure that when they arrive at a customer’s premises they remain unobtrusive, yet professional in their demeanour and appearance. Training takes two forms:

  • New staff are instructed on the use of all cleaning products and equipment which will be used in the course of their work. They are made aware of the specific products and equipment to be used to obtain optimum cleaning results for each task at hand.

  • Employees are trained in the art of presenting a polite and efficient manner to people who they may encounter in the course of their duties. They are also instructed in upholding a superior work ethic while not interfering with customer operations.

The company is currently negotiating with accredited training providers to train all employees in advanced HIV/AIDS awareness and first aid courses.

Spick ‘n Span holds a Level 4 BBBEE certificate (click here) which means that other businesses that use its services can count 100% of their spend with Spick ‘n Span on their own BBBEE Scorecard.

Spick ‘n Span Director Naydene Basson has eight years’ experience in the sourcing of employees and is a member of the Association of Personnel Service Organisations (APSO).

It’s important for customers to be completely comfortable with the people they employ. Therefore, as standard procedure, the employees who are contracted by Spick ‘n Span for rehire to customers, undergo rigorous vetting in terms of their experience and knowledge. They are also investigated to ensure that they do not have a criminal record.

Although the supply of cleaning staff is an area of specialisation for Spick ‘n Span, the company has a wide portfolio of other professions on its books and can readily match prospective employees with customer requirements to ensure complete compatibility.

Two employee recruitment models are available:

  1. Spick ‘n Span retains responsibility for the staffing for customers and as such, all employees contracted to customers report directly into the recruitment team at Spick ‘n Span. This leaves the customer free to run their business without the aggravation of labour issues.
  2. The customer’s management structure accepts responsibility for the control and management of the contracted staff. While this allows the contracted staff to become part of the wider company team of permanent employees, it also gives the customer the flexibility of using only those contracted employees it is satisfied with. In this instance, Spick ‘n Span would provide the customer with attendance records, training, discipline and payment of the employees.

Various contract options are available and could be on either a long-term or ad hoc basis as needed.
